The early fall pattern appears to be stuck in first gear……with not much new happening around the Cape. I’m still finding good numbers of stripers feeding on top off Milk, Salt and Straitsmouth. The bluefish are herding up swarms of very tiny peanut bunker about mile off Good Harbor. The oceanside water temps are still running in the mid to upper 60’s, so until water temps start to drop, the fishing will remain status quo for a bit longer. Steve P fished quite a bit last week and found little change as well, with mostly small stripers and few blues for his efforts. Porter B report; The fishing on Crane has slowed........on Friday one of our buddies got a 39 inch fish and we both had very nice sized fish roll on our plugs as they pushed by us for about 10 min. but we could not get hooked-up. Also, tons and tons of bait on the front side. I tried to fish Bass Rocks Sunday night but the swell was to high and I didn’t even make a cast, so I went over to Niles Beach and fished for about 30 minute but got nothing , but I did see tons of bait there as well. There seems to be plenty of bait around so any day now it should blow wide open.
![]() I expect the fall pattern to continue to build over the next couple of weeks, especially as we see air temps begin to drop. |
