The weekend nor’easters have certainly put to rest the awesome bait blitz of last week. We haven’t seen any stripers this week even though some bait is still present at few of the area beaches. So with that, I’m reaching the conclusion that the majority of stripers have made their way to the south and east of Cape Ann. Same story up at Plum Island. It is not say that a few stragglers may wander through for another week or two, but right now might just be the time to get out the freshwater gear and pursue some of the good fall trout fishing in the area or you haven't had your fill of stripers, then follow them south for awhile. A few good bets would be the outer cape beaches, coastal RI and then later at Montauck.
For me, I will head to W. NY to fish the tribs for steelhead and big browns, a super way to extend the fishing season. We have several trips planned and if anyone needs info, don’t hesitate to call or send an email. Please continue to visit the web site for our W. NY trip reports and a host of other “Special Features” that include a bunch of stuff from Pat Ford.
Let’s hope for a better season next year. And thanks to everyone out there for fishing with us this past season and also for visiting the website. Please check out the striper info on the home page and do what you can to be informed and hopefully become proactive in letting state and federal fisheries people know your opinion on the current status of the striper fishery. Just takes a few minutes to fire off an email!
